We don’t ask for testimonials but our clients often spontaneously email us. We only have a small number of clients each year as some pieces of furniture or collections of furniture can take months to make. Here are emails we have received in the last few years. No full names to preserve privacy.

Memorial Bench
I just wanted to thank you for all your help with Howard’s bench. I am absolutely delighted with it, and I know that Howard would be too, since he often sat on and admired the similar bench half way up Kenmore Hill. The three boys can’t wait to meet up and have a celebration there. I have already received several enthusiastic responses from the local dog walkers - so I think it will be well used. It is a wonderful tribute to my husband, and it will give many hours of quiet contemplation looking out over the splendid view.

Whisky Collector’s Cabinet
Angus and Mike have just left. Wow!!!! The cabinet is beautiful, particularly love the hidden sections. The glasses go perfectly and I’m sure the bottle will be enjoyed.

Telford Desk
My husband has long admired Angus Ross's craftsmanship and quality of design from afar, so was delighted when we commissioned a desk for his milestone birthday. He loved being able to shape its look by choosing the wood and the colour of the leather, and was even able to visit the workshop in Perthshire. His Telford desk is now the most beautiful piece of furniture in our home, and every time he sits down to work at it, he feels uplifted by this wonderful object. Many thanks to the Angus Ross team for all your help along the way.

Reflection Bench
I have been meaning to write to you for a very long time to tell you how much the whole family and so many dear friends are enjoying the beautiful bench Angus made. I cannot tell you how much it is being used for, quiet cups of tea or coffee at any given time of day, children chattering and keeping our swimming kit off the ground. It could not be more perfect for us. I know that J would absolutely love it as he enjoyed wood working himself and thoroughly appreciated beautifully crafted wood such as this.

Frame Rocker
As promised, we are letting you know that our rocking chair arrived safely. Again, we are amazed, although we should already know, at the quality of the work and iconic design. We’ve put the rocking chair in our bedroom, next to our bed. It might seem funny, but it reminds us of a little brother, fighting for attention. And it gets it. In February, we are having our bedroom redecorated to be in sync with our Viking bed, our walking-stick rack and now our rocking chair. We will send you pictures. Thank you for making our house more beautiful. We will cherish the pieces and we already know that our son will do it as well.

Over-chair-table
J and I are delighted with the table and book stand and find it even more useful than we had imagined. This morning J was using it over the chair by the window in the dining room (next to the room where you were sitting) to do some drawing in natural light and it was perfect. It's the sort of thing that we are going to wonder how we ever did without it. It looks gorgeous too.

Flow Garden Benches
The benches silvered up pretty quickly, within six months, possibly due to the wet weather in London. They look beautiful and now that the garden is starting to bloom, and sunny weather is coming, I hope to get out to admire them more often. It has been a challenging winter for the garden this year, with freezes, winds etc. making it look a little sad, so the benches were helpful in keeping some beauty on view/

Nairn Chair
I just wanted to say the Nairn chair is lovely and compliments the rocker in my study wonderfully well. Every time I walk in and see them together it brings a smile to my face. I find it amazing that they can be both beautiful and functional. At best most furniture can be either attractive or functional but rarely both at the same time. So well done to Angus and the team. A collection
Thank you for all of your work creating this beautiful and comfortable furniture. In the kitchen/family room, it has warmed the feel of the room and somehow made the room look larger. I am quite amazed by the footrests on the chairs for the table, which are very comfortable, even with bare feet. It is obvious that a lot of time and thought went into the ergonomics and design for the foot rests. Yesterday, I returned to the house to drop off pizza for our son and a few of his friends and discovered one sitting in the settle and another sprawled in the funnel chair. The desk is currently covered with notes from a Statistics lecture. That is the joy of your furniture - it is beautiful but so comfortable it immediately becomes well-used. We have had no issues with running into the shelf in the kitchen. I quite like being able to reach up easily for a cookbook while working at the counter. When we return this winter, we would love to have you visit for some tea or a Scotch.

Public Art Commission
We wanted to thank you for your hard work and dedication creating Fountain Seating for the Welcome Hall.
Everyone who has encountered it has been struck by its design, quality of making and attention to detail. It has been fully adopted by visitors already, who are intuitively understanding how to use it, setting themselves up in little groups of conversation as they take in everything else around them.
The Amelia is a facility that is going to be treasured by those who use it and work in it for many years to come, so thank you for being part of its creation with us.

Glen Oval Dining Table
It was one year ago today that you delivered our beautiful table. We asked you to create a table that would sit comfortably in our new home, not just a dining table, but a place at which we could gather, relax, work, study and of course eat. It is all those things and much more. We absolutely love it. It really is the heart of our home, such a convivial shape, everything happens around it. When friends call more often than not we will sit around the table, it is such a welcoming place. The bench works beautifully too, interestingly it has become A’s favourite seat!
Thank you for the recent polishing advice, it has fully recovered from my circular polishing!
I have fallen in love with the prism stool, so early in the new year we may well be in touch. In the meantime I think your soap dishes might be just the perfect gift for a couple of friends.

Red House Garden Snug
directory maker designer Angus Ross has blown us away with a new furniture commission at Red House.
As part of a revamp of the Pre-Raphaelite garden at Red House – former home of poet, designer, artist and socialist, William Morris – the National Trust have made a private, medieval, garden room known as a ‘herber’ based on a painting by Morris. We’re so proud to see the installation of contemporary tree seats by directory maker Angus Ross.
When designing the seats Angus brought elements of the house into the garden: gothic arches, over-arching structures, natural materials and high levels of craftsmanship. He said of the commission, "I really wanted to contribute to a universal calm space where people could feel at ease… It was fantastic experience working with the team at The Red House and taking time to reconnect with the ideas of Morris, especially to see how the Red House and garden were designed to be so closely linked.”
We can’t wait to visit and hope you can get there too!

the ash carver arrived safely and promptly on Monday....and is installed as shown in the attachments. I am delighted with it. It is as elegant and graceful as it is comfortable. The slightly curved back support just makes a relaxed posture so much better.....and the wood is so beautiful.

Bespoke Y Desk
Just to say a big ’thank you’ for the desk. It is lovely, and feels just right as I sit at it. It has met with universal approval from the rest of the family (phew!). The ’tiger stripes’ of the quarter-sawn oak are especially beautiful, and the way this reproduced in the light stand, with a series of domed figures working up the curved recess for the light, is lovely.

Bespoke Prism Shelving
I'm happy to be included in the article you write about this lovely shelf in what ever way you see fit! What I would ask- if at all possible- is for 3 curved book ends to be fitted on the right hand side as the wall is too far away to hold the books in place. And with them in situ the piece could have a fuller life in another location once I'm gone! I imagine it as the most wanted heirloom by the next gen Danes!!!
