Bend and Twist - a glimpse behind the scenes making the Prism Stool

We were invited by the team at London Craft Week to submit a new film for Create Day on 4th September 2021. This international celebration of craft and making published exclusive video content from over 300 makers, creators and designers from around the world. Our film can be seen on the Create Day 2021 website here. It is fun to dive into the website, and explore a region of the world, to see behind the scenes of incredible hidden rarely seen workshops.

Making a Prism Stool actually takes years from start to finish as we usually start by air-drying the planks of oak. However once the oak is ready we start by carefully selecting timber then cutting into rough components. The 4 minute film starts after this point and shows: steaming wood and steam-bending oak;drying in drying-jig; cutting, milling, drilling, planing, chiseling, sanding, glueing, and clamping wood: and hand-twisting rush.
